Escape the everyday at Risanare Retreat luxury BnB in the Scenic Rim.
Thus far, 2020 has been interesting to say the least! Life has been turned upside down for so many. Recently, an opportunity arose to indulge in a “stay and play” at Risanare Retreat. Myself and a couple of girlfriends quickly said yes!
Based on Tamborine Mountain, “the Green Behind the Gold”, this gem of a place turns on the charm. From the moment you drive through the gates. Pine trees line and tower above to the right of the driveway, immediately suggesting luxury and grandeur. To the left is a beautiful olive grove. We’ll chat about those in a later blog post. Rows of lavender and garden beds. I can’t help but let out a delighted sigh. Sweeping my eyes across these five acres of heaven. I feel like I could be on a beautiful property somewhere in the French Provence. Residing here for only a few minutes, already I am relaxed. Mentally concocting ways in which see me never leaving!
We are having our girlie staycation during Winter. Though Spring is just around the corner, this day was delightfully warm. It’s lovely to step inside and leave the fresh mountain air behind for a moment. Wine in hand, we make a beeline for the double fireplace. It’s perfect. On one side of the fireplace is the dining room. A long, rustic dining table takes up the space. Ideal for large gatherings and long lunches. On the other side of the fireplace, a cosy sitting area. Chairs and soft throws make for a wonderful place to sit. A time to reconnect and chat huddled up in front of the fire…

Risanare Retreat Luxury BnB
Hostess and owner of Risanare Retreat, Karen is spoiling us. She has put together the most divine s’mores box I have ever seen. S’mores you ask?? Allow your inner child to imagine everything you would like to toast over an outdoor fire. Marshmallows, the size of my fist, chocolate waffles, maroons, chocolate covered strawberries, caramel dipping sauce. Blood sugars are sky rocketing at the mere thought of this alone, but I am in my happy place!!
We head out to the Hamptons inspired fire pit. After successfully lighting the fire (we won’t mention how many attempts it took) to enjoy this sugary feast. We are again sitting and relaxing. Laughing and happily watching the candy floss coloured sky give way to the inky night. That’s the great thing about sitting atop a mountain too. The lack of light pollution gives one the opportunity to really enjoy looking at the explosion of stars above. A chance to revel in pressing the pause button. Taking time to appreciate how magical life can be sometimes.
A time to indulge
I’d eaten my body weight in chocolate and marshmallows. Drank sumptuous wines from local winery, Witches Falls Wine. As I fell asleep that night, I am sure I muttered, I am never eating again. Waking to a new morning, the knock of the door heralded the start of another delightfully indulgent day. Local café, Wild Plum Kitchen was providing breakfast for us! I cannot quite describe in words how phenomenal their food is. Space on the dining table was cleared for mini croissants, pancakes, bowls of bircher muesli, coffee and my personal favourite, the Tambo Avo. Avocado with miso butter, sesame, radishes and nori powder. Genius. Try it, but be warned, you won’t be able to forget it. No more than I can forget what an incredible escape to Risanare Retreat Luxury BnB was. Our home away from home for a few days. A stone’s throw away from walking tracks and cafes. Perfectly tucked away so you can switch off and forget about the world.
