Breathe in the country air.

Across the country, welcoming hosts will spend Autumn creating special meals and memories for their guests.  We head behind the scenes to create and capture some of the feasts that will sustain them, sharing a sense of celebration to welcome a new season.

Entertain in the Scenic Rim

Our home for the night is a contemporary abode, Rosewood House.  Boasting views of the City, Dam and the Coast, including an art studio and dual access.  From the moment you step inside this high raked ceiling cottage, you feel right at home.

Saturated with sunshine streaming in through double glass French doors that lead out to an entertainment deck.  The deck is part undercover – perfect for any weather conditions, with the outdoor arbour dining zone located around the side.

Cottage garden blooms from Lydia’s Garden boutique florist.

Rosewood House

The atmosphere here is modern and casual, with the option of dining indoors or relaxing on the breezy deck.  To the side of this humbling abode, is an outdoor arbour dining zone.  Our preferred location to host an intimate dining experience.

Embers Wood Fire Dining is the brain child of Simon Furley, Kyle McNamara and Alex Hall.  After working together a the multi-award-wining Homage restaurant, to launching and gaining quite the following at Beechmont Estate.  This hatted Chef trio have built up a well-earned reputation as a respected catering business, using local ingredients that have been farmed and sourced ethically.  The friendly welcome and generous menu always seems to attract a hungry crowd.

As part of keeping the food always fresh, Simon changes the menu to use only local ingredients.  He had just taken delivery of a Scenic Rim Farm Box filled with produce from local farmers.

As the afternoon passes, our bellies full to end another day in the land of contrasts that is Beechmont. Beechmont is almost completely surrounded by Heritage listed Lamington National Park, winding through the hinterland catering for hiking and horse-riding.  Alternatively, you can relax in the cottage’s outside bathtub and immerse yourself in the sound of nature.

The next morning, we wake at sunrise to a heavenly view of wisps cloaking the coastline below.  It’s a fresh day to explore one of the hinterland’s villages.

Nearby Canungra is a quaint country town rich in history, culture and  adventure.  Vibrant cafes aplenty along the main street, including boutique fashion and homewares.  We dropped by boutique florist, Lydia’s Garden, and left with a country style bouquet.  It was a little early in the day, but if you time your visit right, you can experience local wine tasting at Canungra Valley Vineyards.  Or, you can purchase wine direct from the cellar door.  Ticking our box was O’Reilly’s Lona Blush Sparkling Semillon and Reserve Selection ‘Shane’ Shiraz.

To celebrate the regions growing love affair with country-style living, Scenic Rim Guide together with Embers Wood Fire is presenting a seasonal, quarterly Scenic Long Lunch.  And you’re invited!  More details to follow in the coming month.
