The Kalbar Sunflower Festival. With bright blooms that go from mid-summer to early fall, sunflowers say “summer” like no other plant.
Emily Cochran, Event Organiser of the hugely successful Kalbar Sunflower Festival, shares her passion behind the event.
“We have been overwhelmed with the positive response and excitement around our first Kalbar Sunflower Festival. The entire town and community organisations rallied together in a short amount of time to put on a superb range of events that was a huge success. Sold out in record time, proving that 200,000 sunflowers and boutique events are a recipe for success.
I love working on agritourism events and allowing farmers to showcase to visitors what they do. In addition to sunrise yoga and the impressive sunset sunflower gala dinner…. everyone put in a tremendous effort. What’s more, working with Scenic Rim producers and businesses putting on a festival that made so many people smile has been the highlight for me. Furthermore, I can’t wait for more sunflower mayhem again.
Watch this space as we are now planning a bigger and better Sunflower Festival in 2022. Lastly, the only complaint we had was “how come we didn’t know about it?” and “when is the next one?”. We will launch via social media with new dates soon.” Emily Lochran
